Registration opens Tuesday, Aug. 5, for Homewood-Flossmoor Park District fall programs.
A number of new programs will be offered in early childhood, athletics and adult programming according to Mike Gianatasio, superintendent of recreation.
The park district is offering several early bird reduced fees will be used for several youth leagues: youth developmental flag football, youth developmental basketball, high school developmental basketball league. The park district is also offering co-ed adult volleyball league.
Registrations can be made online at hfparks.com. Inquiries are being accepted by park staff at 708-957-0300.
A few of the programs offered this fall are:
- Salsa & Sangria, which includes an instructor teaching how to dance the Salsa.
- A variety of senior trips, including the Morton Arboretum, Nat King Cole Concert, White Fence Farm.
- Wiggles & Giggles infant fun includes finger plays, songs and chants to help baby’s cognitive development.
- Phonics Explores for 3 to 5 years olds to learn basic phonics skills.
- Basketball Rookies for kids ages 3 to 10.
- Volleyball Rookies & Volleyball Veterans for ages 7 to 14.
- Nerf Night for kids 6 to 10 years old on Nov. 14.
- Sweater Weather Spirits: A cocktail workshop for those 21 and older who will learn the fundamentals of mixology while sipping on three seasonal cocktails they created on Oct. 16.
- Puppy Kindergarten for pet owners 21 and older, the course teaches focus, paying attention and basic obedience commands.
- Checkers and Chess Tournament for amateur players aged 8 and older on Nov. 22.
- Kayaking, a beginner-friendly introductory class on Oct. 10 for those 18 and older.
