- Consider a contract not to exceed $100,000 with Fehr Graham of Aurora to conduct a water quality study of Prairie Lakes at Izaak Walton Preserve.
- Associate Cook County Circuit Court Judge and former trustee Barbara Dawkins will administer the oath of office to Village President Richard Hofeld, Village Clerk Nakina Flores, and Trustees Lauren Roman, Vivian Harris-Jones, Phillip Mason and Patrick Siemsen.
- Consider a change order of $23,500 for professional services provided by Burns & McDonnell of Chicago, IL to complete a water rate study.
- Consider endorsing a Class 8 property tax relief designation for 17627 Halsted St., a two-unit commercial building with one vacant unit and one that’s home to Dave’s Hot Chicken.
Homewood-Flossmoor Park District Board of Commissioners will hold special meetings at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, and Wednesday, May 14, in the Goldberg Administration Center, 3301 Flossmoor Road. The agenda is available here.
Highlight: Commission members plan to convene in closed session to discuss the appointment of a person to fill a vacancy on the board.
Flossmoor Public Library Board of Trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in the library, 1000 Sterling Ave. The agenda is available here.
Highlight: Board members elected April 1 — Natasha Bergeron, Leslie Klauk and Tamara Prokop — will be sworn in and new officers will be elected.

Monday, May 12
Cookbook Club for Teens. Anyone in grades 7-12 who likes to cook or bake and talk about recipes is invited to meet up with others at 7 p.m. in the Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway. Try out recipes and share the results. Registration is required. Please list any food allergies in the notes field.
Wednesday, May 14
H-F Park District Community Input Meeting. The park district will host a community forum from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Goldberg Administration Center, 3301 Flossmoor Road, to get input from residents about plans to update Scandia, Goldberg and Pheasant Trails parks.
Martyr to Radio. Homewood Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway. After a brief business meeting, Robert Anderson and the Anderson and Wolf families will present “The First Martyr to Radio.”
H-F High Jazz Concert. The Homewood-Flossmoor High School jazz program’s year-end concert will start at 7 p.m. at the school, 999 Kedzie Ave., and will feature performances by the Jazz Ensemble and Viking Jazz Ensemble.
Thursday, May 15
Cone with a Cop. Flossmoor police officers will be at Rainbow Cone, 19805 S. Crawford Ave., from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to meet with members of the community. The first 50 guests who show the flyer (digital or printed) will receive a free junior Rainbow cone.
Kinderparent Orientation Night. Homewood School District 153 will host the orientation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Willow School, 1804 Willow Road. It will be an evening for parents/guardians of incoming kindergartners to learn more about the kindergarten experience at Willow School. Please note that children must be five years of age on or before Sept. 1 to register for kindergarten in 2025-2026.
Karaoke at the Q. Twisted Q BBQ will host karaoke from 8 to 11 p.m. at 2053 Ridge Road.
Friday, May 16
Cop on a Rooftop. Flossmoor police officers will perch on the roof at Dunkin Donuts, 3608 Vollmer Road, from 5 a.m. til noon to help raise funds for Special Olympics Illinois’ year-round programming. Donations can also be made online. Mention “Flossmoor Police Department” when donating.
Silent Library. The goal will be to complete wacky, ridiculous challenges while staying completely silent. Hosted at 3:30 p.m. at Flossmoor Public Library. Registration is required.
Saturday, May 17
Homewood Public Works Open House. If you think learning about street resurfacing and water lines sounds boring, you’ve never seen kids delight from a ride in a bucket lift or getting to sit at the controls of an excavator and pretend to dig a trench. Kids love big machines, and public works has plenty of those. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 17, at 17755 Ashland Ave.
STEM Saturday. Homewood Science Center, 18022 Dixie Highway, will host its free weekly science play time for the whole family from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Play opportunities include Pixel Pegs, Nano, Early Math Counts Activities, Makerspace, Imagination Playground, Dinosaur Bones, LEGO Wall and more.
Chicago Knockouts Roller Derby. A Premier League bout between the Retro Rumblers and the Horrific Haunters will start at 8 p.m. in the Homewood Auditorium, 2010 Chestnut Road. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $15 online, $20 at the door. Trackside tickets are $20 and front row is $25. Accessible seating is available at no extra charge.
Barb & Dan’s Road Ride. Riders of all experience levels can join the group which leaves at 8 a.m. from GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 183rd St. in Homewood. There is a no-drop group that rides about 20 miles and stronger riders sometimes go farther. Helmets required, daytime lights strongly recommended.
Off-leash Ride. A leisurely just-riding-around nine-mile ride every Saturday. Route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, Rovers Run and Izaak Walton Preserve. Starts at GoodSpeed Cycles, 2125 183rd St. at 8:30 a.m. sharp, ends back at the shop 9:45ish for donuts.

FSL House Walk. The Flossmoor Service League will be showcasing four beautiful homes in Flossmoor during its annual House Walk from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Ttickets are available with a $30 donation. Tickets also can be purchased at UpsaDaisy Boutique, 18100 Martin Ave. in Homewood; GypsyFix, 1056 Sterling Ave. in Flossmoor; and Art4Soul, 18135 Hardwood Ave. in Homewood. A buffet lunch will be available at Flossmoor Station between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets for lunch are $25. Please purchase luncheon tickets by May 16. A limited number of tickets will be available after that date.
Monday, May 26
Memorial Day in Homewood. The Wally Burns VFW Post 8077 will host its annual Memorial Day service at 10:30 a.m. in the Veterans Memorial park at Olive Road and Harwood Avenue. The Homewood-Flossmoor High Marching Band will perform, as will a combined James Hart and Parker Junior High band. The event will include wreath laying services, the sounding of taps and a 21-gun salute.
Memorial Day in Flossmoor. Residents and community musicians come together for a remembrance event at 3 p.m. at the Village Hall flagpole, 2800 Flossmoor Road.
Thursday, May 29
A Decade of Impact Celebration. You Matter 2 will celebrate its first decade from 6 to 9 p.m. at Glenwoodie Golf Club, 19301 S. State St. in Glenwood. The youth leadership organization has had tremendous impact not only on the young people who participate in its programs but on the community through its many public service projects. Saturday, May 31
Homewood Outdoor Farmers Market. The summer tradition will return and will run every Saturday through Oct. 11. The market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday in Martin Square between Chestnut and Ridge roads in downtown Homewood.
