Most important issues: Parent engagement- providing easy access and awareness to their student’s educational progress, opportunities, and available services is vitally important when I think of successful
educational experiences.
When systems and processes are cumbersome it makes engagement a challenge, especially when raising multiple children. If we want students to be engaged and active in their education, we have to first make it possible for those we ask to support our efforts to also be engaged.
Accountability- Internet and social media have lasting impacts.
Today’s students will be the leaders of tomorrow and we need to do our best to prepare them for the reality that the choices made today will follow them through life in a way many of us, as parents, were not faced with. Kids will be kids does not apply to everything; we have to teach accountability.
Top goals: Working with the board and schools to help parents get and remain engaged. Work with the rest of the board to deliver programs already envisioned and developed to help raise the standards the parents, staff, and 161 community expect.
