Employment history: I’m the director of language acquisition for Bloom Township High School District 206. Prior, I was the director of language acquisition for Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205 (2014-2021) and supervisor of ESOL/World Languages for Pasco County (Florida) Schools (2010-2014). I taught high school Spanish, English speakers of other languages, middle school Spanish, reading, and bilingual kindergarten.

Previous service: This is my first time in a public governance setting and I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve our community.

Most important issues: Curriculum and instruction, student academic achievement, residency, budgets and resource allocation, and teacher/staff retention and support. With a new superintendent starting (July 1), it is also important that the board of education works closely with her and supports her successful leadership of the district. H-F High School is a pillar of the community, one that attracts home buyers seeking a high quality public education. As such, I believe it is part of the board’s responsibility to ensure that the school is promoting and representing the community’s high standards for education.

Top goals: As an educator, H-F alum, and mother of future Vikings, I am passionate about education and uplifting our students and community. My top goals are that all students at H-F have the best educational experience possible by fostering student achievement and equitable opportunities for success.

In addition, I will partner with all stakeholders and be an active listener to ensure that all voices and perspectives are heard and taken into account when making decisions for our school community. In doing so, I will promote transparency about important topics such as student resources, curriculum goals, school safety, fiscal responsibility, and H-F’s strategic plan. I will work hard for all constituents to make sure that H-F’s tradition of academic excellence is maintained while also moving the school forward so that students have access to the most updated, diverse, and innovative curricula and programs.
