Highlights:
- The board will discuss the 2025-2026 fiscal year budget, which begins May 1.
- Consider a special use permit for Niya Jones to operate an event space at 18035 Dixie Highway.
- Consider supporting Wind Creek Casino’s property tax appeal, which seeks to limit taxes to the time after the casino opened in November rather than for nearly half of 2024.
- Consider three ordinances establishing the North Halsted TIF District. A public hearing on the proposed TIF district was held at the previous meeting.
- The board will hear a presentation on the proposed improvements to village hall emergency power.

Monday, Feb. 24
Legos at the Library. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a Lego play session starting at 4 p.m. The library will provide the bricks. Registration preferred but not required.
Unpublished Books Club. The Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, is looking for teen book reviewers who want to get their hands on young adult books that haven’t been published yet and review them for the publishers. Stop by from 6:30 to 7 p.m. For anyone in grades seven through 12.
Teen Book Swap. Share books and your perspective on them with others from 7:15 to 7:45 p.m. at Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway. Participants bring their own book (annotated in the margins or favorite parts underlined) and swap with someone else. Everyone has one month to read the book that was given to them and annotate it. Don’t have a book to annotate? No problem, the library will provide one for you. Gel pens will also be provided. For anyone in grades seven through 12.
Tuesday, Feb. 25
Lego Club. Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., will provide the bricks. You provide the imagination. Meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. All Legos stay at the library, so bring a camera to capture your creations. Please leave your Legos at home so you don’t lose your favorite pieces. Registration is appreciated, but not required.
Twilight Trivia on Tap. Lassen’s Tap, 2131 183rd St., will host a trivia session starting at 8 p.m. that will focus on the “Twilight” vampire series, books and films.
Wednesday, Feb. 26
Makerspace Days. Whether you want to learn how to make earrings, a scribble bot, or create something completely new, the Flossmoor Public Library Makerspace at 1000 Sterling Ave. provides an opportunity starting at 3:30 p.m. There will be a focused activity each session, but participants can come up with their own projects, too.

National Cigar Day. Embassy Cigar Lounge will host LoveLuvv for a night of fine cigars, premium champagne, and luxury vibes to celebrate National Cigar Day. Register here.
Friday, Feb. 28
Heart & Soul. The Ingalls Development Foundation will host its inaugural Ingalls Impact: Heart & Soul event from 7 to 10 p.m. at the UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Flossmoor Family Care Center, 19550 Governors Highway in Flossmoor. Heart & Soul promises a fun, memorable culinary experience featuring the talents of local Flossmoor area chefs, complemented by a live musical performance. Youth Mental Health First Aid Training. A free training session sponsored by You Matter 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchison Road. The course is designed to teach how to help adolescents (ages 12 to 18) experiencing mental health or addiction challenges. Register by Monday, Feb. 24.
Friday, March 7
Prince Charming Dance. The H-F Park District will host an event from 6 to 8 p.m. for moms, grandmothers and aunts to take their prince charmings aged 3 to 12 on a date at the H-F Sports Complex, 18211 S. Aberdeen Ave. There will be games, snacks and dancing. The fee is $34 for district residents, $44 for non-residents. Click here to register.

Pancake Picnic. Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center, 20000 Western Ave., Olympia Fields, will host an opportunity from 9 to 10 a.m. to learn about the process of converting maple sap into syrup during a stroll through the forest followed by a pancake feast. Registration is required. The fee is $9 for district residents, $11 for non-residents.

Flossmoor Entry-Level Police Officer Applications Due. Applications are now open for entry-level officers through today. Written test will be offered on Saturday, March 15.
