Tuesday, Jan. 7
KinderCamp. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host the meeting starting at noon. “School can be scary and stressful for our little learners that have never been away from their grown-up. KinderCamp hopes to ease the transition. Each week we will read a story and follow it up with a lesson or craft, allowing children to learn and practice some of the skills needed for school with their grown-up close at hand.”
Cookies & Comics. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host the meeting starting at 6 p.m. This month’s discussion will focus on “I Survived the Destruction of Pompeii, AD 79” by Lauren Tarshis.
Just For Fun: Throwback Karaoke. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host the session starting at 7 p.m. “Throw it back to childhood, adolescence, the college years … whenever.”
Science Trivia Night. Homewood-Flossmoor Science Pub will host a science quiz at Rabid Brewing, 17759 Bretz Drive. Team (up to six members) sign up will start at 7 p.m. Trivia questions will start at 7:30 p.m.

Cahokia and the Mississippians. Homewood Historical Society will hold a brief meeting at 6:30 p.m. in Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, followed by a presentation by Will Kelly, president of the South Suburban Archaeology Society.
Thursday, Jan. 9
Chess Club for Kids. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host the meeting starting at 4 p.m. “Practice your chess skills or learn the basics of playing the game. Chess Club is recommended for children 7 and up.”
Cardmaking Class. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host the class starting at 6:30 p.m. “The Class will instruct participants to make greeting cards, (birthday cards, get well, thank you, sympathy, etc.), learn new techniques and enjoy the company of other crafters. Each participant will receive a kit with all the supplies needed to complete several greeting cards along with step-by-step instructions.”
Friday, Jan. 10
Crafty Tots. Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave., will host the session starting at 10:30 a.m. Youngsters will be able to “finger-paint, doodle, and put together your own works of art. All supplies provided. Registration is required and limited.”
Senior Social Hour. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host the informal session starting at 1 p.m. “Join us for an hour of pleasant conversation and light refreshments.”
Saturday, Jan. 11
STEM Saturdays. The Homewood Science Center hosts fun learning play from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 18022 Dixie Highway. Activities include Pixel Pegs, Early Math Counts, Children’s Book Inspired Making and Tinkering, Imagination Playground, Dinosaur Bones, LEGO Wall, Behind the Wall, Ramps and Pathways and Guacamole the T-Rex.
Sunday, Jan. 12
Sound Medicine: A Vibrational Journey. Serendipity Yoga and Wellness, 18300 Dixie Highway, will host an evening of music medicine by Sound Medicine Collective starting at 5 p.m. “You can expect to deeply relax and go into the brain wave states of dreaming, meditation and possibly even Delta waves of deep sleep.” Tickets are $45. Plan ahead
MLK Day of Service Classical Music Concert. The fifth annual classical music concert to celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will take place from 4 to 5:05 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, at Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchison Road. Highly talented pre-collegiate students from the Music Institute of Chicago will perform in exchange for monetary donations of any amount to the Center for Food Equity in Medicine. All donations up to $1,000 will be matched.
Virtual Homebuyer Education Course. South Suburban Housing Center will host a free series of two virtual home buyer education sessions, one from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 and one from 9 a.m. to noon on Jan. 18.
