Homewood-Flossmoor School District 233 Board of Education will hold a committee of the whole meeting at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in the Viking Room, South Building, 999 Kedzie Ave. The agenda is available here.

Flossmoor School District 161 Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in Normandy Villa, 41 E. Elmwood Drive, Chicago Heights. The agenda is available here. Homewood School District 153 Board of Education will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16, in the James Hart School media center, 18220 Morgan St. The agenda is available here.

Highlights: The board will hold a public hearing regarding its intent to sell $2.9 million School Fire Prevention and Safety Bonds for the purpose of conforming its existing facilities to the State Board of Education building code.

Highlights: The board will consider a development agreement with BG Park Centre LLC  preliminary to building a mixed-use structure at 2611-2633 Flossmoor Road. The board will also consider amending municipal code to create a business registration program.

Highlights: The board will consider setting the 2024 tax levy and whether to issue property tax abatement via Property Tax Relief Grant Programs. The board will also consider adjusting social science graduation requirements.

Monday, Dec. 16

Gift Wrapping Party. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a gift wrapping party from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Participants can bring presents and wrapping paper. The library will supply the tape, scissors, ribbon, warm drinks and music.

Wednesday, Dec. 18

Hanukkah and Kwanzaa Program. Learn all about Hanukkah and Kwanzaa and how they are celebrated from a Flossmoor rabbi and representatives from the St. Veronica Kwanzaa Ministry at 6 p.m. in Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave.

Professional Women’s Network Sip and Shop. Enjoy holiday cheer while catching up with other professionals and finding a few gifts. The cost is $25 to cover refreshments and light snacks from 5 to 7 p.m. at Gypsy Fix: Just a Happy Little Store, 1056 Sterling Ave., Flossmoor.

Winter Blues. Flossmoor Community Church, 2218 Hutchison Road, will host an opportunity to deal with colder days, longer nights and the quiet burdens we carry during the winter season. Join with others for a comforting hour of reflection, candlelight, music and prayer.

Thursday, Dec. 19

Flossmoor Holiday Lights Parade. Decorated trucks and vehicles from Flossmoor’s Public Works, Fire and Police Departments parade through the village starting at 4:30 p.m., bringing the holiday spirit to all. The parade map will be posted at flossmoor.org.

Candlelight Shopping. Homewood Business Association members will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. for a late round of holiday shopping. HBA shops will dim their lights for a shopping experience by candlelight. The evening starts at LaBanque Hotel, 2034 Ridge Road, for wine tasting provided by Family Wine & Liquor and caroling from Bel Canto Choir. HBA Service and Wellness members will be available to help shoppers with additional shopping needs.

Light Up Trail Walk. Irons Oaks Environmental Learning Center, 20000 Western Ave., Olympia Fields, will host the second annual lighted trail walk from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 19 and 20. Stroll through a winter wonderland where festive lights and the beauty of nature come together to sparkle your holiday season. Hot chocolate and s’mores will be available for purchase.

Support Cece. Former Churchill School principal and popular pie baker Cece Coffey is competing for Buddy Valastro’s The Greatest Baker Contest. She made it to the quarter finals. The deadline to vote is today at 5 p.m. Coffey is renowned locally for her business, A Piece of the Pie, which donates proceeds of “pie of the month” sales to local charities. Vote here.

Friday, Dec. 20

Open Mic/Holiday Karaoke Night. Homewood Public Library, 17917 Dixie Highway, will host a fun holiday performance night for anyone in grades 7-12 from 7 to 9 p.m. Participants are invited to sing or play an instrument. Snacks and hot chocolate, tea and cider will be served.

Saturday, Dec. 21

Holiday T-Shirt Bar Pop Up. TMC Promos & Gifts, 1056 Sterling Ave., No. 11, in Flossmoor will host a holiday T-Shirt Bar Pop Up event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, and Sunday, Dec. 22. More information at tmcpromos.com.

Pro Wrestling Extravaganza. Get ready for a night of action and holiday cheer at Seasons Beatings at the Homewood Auditorium, 2010 Chestnut Road, from 6 to 10 p.m. WWE superstars EC3 and Mustafa Ali meet in an electrifying main event. Santa Claus and other holiday favorites will make special guest appearances to spread the festive spirit. Enjoy food and drinks provided by Rabid Brewery, plus a chance to win prizes. Sunday, Dec. 22

Breakfast with Santa. Flossmoor Station, 1035 Sterling Ave., will host a breakfast buffet with Santa Claus. Bring your pups along. Adults: $20; Children under 10: $10; Santa Pictures: $5. Call 708-957-2739 to RSVP.

Tuesday, Dec. 31

Noon Year’s Eve Party. Ring in the New Year early at the H-F Park District Sports Complex, 18211 S. Aberdeen Ave. in Homewood. The party will give kids ages 5 through 12 a chance to celebrate the new year with a fun-filled celebration complete with festive games, crafts and a countdown to noon. Music, snacks and a sparkling toast will be provided. Tickets are $10 for district residents, $15 for non-residents and are available here.
