Flossmoor police issued an alert Tuesday evening, Nov. 12, urging residents to take precautions to help prevent theft of and from vehicles.
“Over the past 24 hours, the village has had over a dozen reported burglaries from motor vehicles and multiple stolen vehicles,” police said. “Additional incidents have been reported in surrounding communities.”
Residents can reduce the chances of loss by following these steps:
- Lock your vehicles at all times, even when parked at home.
- Remove valuables or keep them out of sight.
- Park in a garage or a well-lit area whenever possible.
- Turn on exterior lights to enhance visibility around your property.
- Regularly check your residential surveillance cameras for any unusual activity.
- Report any suspicious vehicles or individuals to the Flossmoor Police Department at 708-957-4500.
In response to the recent incidents, Flossmoor has deployed two tactical units for the midnight shift and increased patrols throughout the village.
