Flossmoor police arrest suspect in June carjacking case

On Wednesday, Oct. 23, Flossmoor police detectives arrested a juvenile from University Park who is suspected of committing an attempted armed vehicular hijacking in the 700 block of Sterling Avenue in Flossmoor on June 7.

Police said the juvenile has been charged with attempted first degree murder, a Class X felony; attempted aggravated armed vehicular hijacking, a Class X felony; possession of a stolen motor vehicle, a Class 2 felony; and aggravated battery in a public way, a Class 3 felony.

The suspect is in custody at the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center.

License plate reader (LPR) cameras, video surveillance and other types of evidence were instrumental in identifying the suspect, police said.

“The Flossmoor Police Department thanks our detectives for their exceptional work on this case and for a job well done on locating and apprehending the suspect,” Director of Police Services Carl Estelle said.
