Spooky Gaming Night. Homewood Public Library will host a special spooky gaming night from 6 to 8 p.m. for anyone in grades 7 through 12. Participants are invited to wear character costumes. Costume contest winner receives a $10 gift card. Pizza will be served.
Registration is preferred.

Turtles, Lizards, Dinosaurs and Others Through the Ages. Izaak Walton Preserve general meeting from 7 to 8 p.m. at 1100 Ridge Road will feature Robin Whatley, paleontologist at Columbia College Chicago, who will describe “the deep history of changing landscapes and ecosystems that we share with resident and migratory animal inhabitants of our area.”

Homewood-Flossmoor School District 233 Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Viking Room, South Building, 999 Kedzie Ave. in Flossmoor. The agenda is available here. The board plans to convene in closed session to consider personnel matters.

Early Voting Begins. Voting in person on touch-screen voting machines in the Nov. 5 election opened Oct. 21 and continues through Nov. 4. Locations and hours for suburban early voting are available here. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 21 through Oct. 26, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 27, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 28 through Nov. 2, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 4. The voting places closest to H-F include:
