Sara Schnoor, principal of District 153’s Churchill School, has resigned her position.
She stepped into the role of principal four years ago. She came to Homewood after serving as assistant principal at a school in Tinley Park.
Schnoor followed Nikki Kerr who was Churchill principal for three years. She followed Cece Coffey who had been principal for 16 years.
In a letter to the Churchill School community, Schnoor said, “I have made the difficult decision to resign at the end of the school year. I will be forever grateful for the time I have had to lead and serve in the Homewood community, and I am very proud of all that the Churchill team has accomplished these last four years.”
Schnoor said she would help with the transition to a new principal.
The district recently named a new principal for Willow School due to the retirement of Principal Melissa Lawson. It is expected the district will follow a similar plan to find the next Churchill principal, including staff and administrative teams and input from parents and District 153 supporters interviewing candidates and helping with the selection of a new leader.
