Two charged in December shooting, attempted carjacking in Homewood

Homewood police reported Wednesday, Feb. 14, that two men have been charged in connection with an attempted carjacking in the 17900 block of Halsted Street in December. A 19-year-old man was shot and seriously injured during the incident.

Police said Deandre Adams, 20, of Harvey, was arrested on Jan. 22 and was charged with attempted first degree murder and unlawful vehicular invasion. He was taken into custody from Cook County Detention, where he was being held on an unrelated charge.

Quartez Dixon, 23, of Park Forest, was arrested by the Chicago Police Department on Feb. 13 and was charged with attempted first degree murder, armed robbery with a firearm and unlawful vehicular invasion.

The victim was released from the hospital and is still recovering from a paralyzing injury, according to Homewood police.
