A march down memory lane

James Hart School graduates got to go back in time Monday.

District 153 arranged for the 247 Hart eighth graders to be guests of honor at Willow School parading for kindergarten, first and second graders, and at Churchill School walking through the hallways for third, fourth and fifth graders.

The graduates were cheered on as they marched through the two schools. The 13- and 14-year-olds got to recall memories and say hello to teachers they’d had in earlier days. Some high-fived the younger students.

“It was fun,” one graduate said as he boarded the bus back to Hart after a whirlwind ride through Homewood.

Teachers enjoyed it, too. On Churchill teacher said it was great to see how her former students had changed, noting “they were so young when they were here.”

The Hart School graduation ceremony is set for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, at Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
