Want to create your own outdoor holiday decorations?

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District will help you make a holiday yard card. The cards have been on display in H-F neighborhoods since 1998. They’re an easy, fun way to proclaim your holiday cheer.

You create the message and then create your card. Select the sentiment for your card and submit it by email to the park district. Then, select a time to meet staff at the Irwin Center, 18120 Highland Ave. in Homewood to have staff help you trace the message onto a 4-foot-by-4-foot piece of plywood with stands attached.  Carry the card off and decorate it at your leisure at home. The fee is $75 for park district residents and $90 for nonresidents.

Another option is to select the design of your card and park district staff will trace your message for you. You get to decorate the card at home. The fee is $100 for residents of the park district and $120 for non-residents.

Registrations for holiday yard cards are being accepted through Dec. 1 by the Irwin Center staff at 708-957-7275.
