Bank Financial of Flossmoor completes construction of the teller area

Two ribbons were cut at the grand opening celebration of the new Bank Financial location in downtown Flossmoor on the afternoon of Thursday, Oct. 27. While the bank had been open since July, the ribbon-cutting marked the completion of the space inside.

Previously, if a customer wanted to make a transaction, they had to turn right and see a banker in the lobby. If a customer turned left, there was a wall blocking off the room on the other side. But after months of construction, on Monday, Oct. 24, the wall came down. The room is now a fully operational teller space.

Connie Simms, the Senior Vice President of Marketing for the Southland Chamber of Commerce, said it took “longer than anticipated” to accumulate the furniture for the teller area because of global supply chain issues.

“The walls, the carpet, the lights, the ceiling, outlets – everything is completely new,” Simms said.

“We designed it as more of an advisory boutique kind of branch” said Greg Adams, the president of marketing and sales for Bank Financial. “People can come and talk about their planning for the future or the next success for the business. And we can help with those things.”

“I just want to welcome Bank Financial,” Flossmoor Mayor Michelle Nelson said in her speech. “You are fulfilling a need here in Flossmoor. We used to have two banks. And they closed during the pandemic. Having Bank Financial fulfills a basic need here for our residents and our businesses.”

A red ribbon and a green ribbon were cut to mark the grand opening. The green ribbon represented the Village of Flossmoor, and it was cut by Mayor Nelson. The red ribbon represented the Southland Chamber of Commerce, and it was cut by Simms.

Wiley’s Grill catered the celebration. There was champagne, wine and three different kinds of cupcakes – red velvet, chocolate peanut butter and hummingbird. Attendees were able to take home a small bag of assorted, bite-sized candy with a white Bank Financial ribbon.

Bank Financial is at 2743 Flossmoor Road. The lobby hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The drive thru hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
