Can you spare a morning to help get parks ready for the season? The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is looking for volunteers for its annual Park Pride event.

This year’s program will be from 8:30 until 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 7. Afterward, volunteers are treated to a lunch at the Irwin Center.

The park district has 27 parks and various other facilities, including Irons Oaks, Lions Club Pool, the H-F Racquet & Fitness Center and administrative offices.

Doug Boehm, superintendent of parks and planning, is organizing the event and is looking for volunteers to serve as Park Pride captains for many of the parks. Each captain will be given a list of items to be completed that morning, including planting flowers, cleaning up trash and laying down mulch.

Community volunteers can contact Boehm by email at [email protected] or call the park district office at 708-957-0300.
