1 injured, 1 apprehended in Homewood shooting Sunday

A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting incident shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, April 10, according to Homewood police.

Officers found the victim, 40, in the vicinity of Hillview Road and Poplar Avenue. He was transported to the hospital.

A second man, 35, was taken into custody as part of the investigation, police said.

Police are still investigating but believe the incident is isolated, and there is no further threat to the community . . .

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
