Demolition of former Bogarts Charhouse begins Tuesday

Two Cook County Sheriff’s Department vehicles parked behind the former Bogart’s Charhouse, 18225 Dixie Highway in Homewood, as demolition work began Tuesday. Josh Strominski, a Local 150 operator working for the sheriff’s department, said his small crew would take a couple weeks to complete the demolition project. The village acquired the property that had been vacant for several years. Mayor Richard Hofeld said the village has received inquiries about purchasing the property for development. Eric Crump started his first newspaper with his best friend when he was 9. It was four pages and folded after one issue. Possibly as many as two or three people read it. In 2014, about 46 years later, he started another paper, the H-F Chronicle, which is still going and has a few more readers.
