While you can’t go to the theater, the Drama Group is planning to bring live theater to you with livestream performances of “The Cover of Life” over two weekends, beginning Friday, June 4.
The story is a poignant depiction of all the hopes and regrets women face, even when they are “happy” with their choices. The play focuses on three new brides living in rural Louisiana in 1943. Each married a Cliffert brother who is serving overseas. They are set to be featured on the cover of Life magazine. The story revolves around reporter Kate Miller spending a week with the three brides to capture the story. Miller discovers that she has sympathy for the plight of the three and recognizes that she is powerless in a man’s world.
P.J. Janicki of Flossmoor will portray one of the brides. Ken Hawkley of Homewood is a camera operator for the productions.
The performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, June 4 and 5, and June 11 and 12, and 2 p.m. Sundays, June 6 and 13.
The Drama Group is using BookTix Ticketing and Livestreaming services. Performances will be presented through BookTixLive. Guests can link to it through the Drama Group website. Guests will be directed to set up their account with the Drama Group-BookTix Box Office.
