Free tennis programs at Flossmoor Park May 22

Saturday, May 22, is tennis day in the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District, with special events planned in cooperation with the U.S. Tennis Association/Midwest Section.

All events are free and will be offered at Flossmoor Park, 2440 Flossmoor Road.  In the event of inclement weather, the programs will relocate to the H-F Racquet & Fitness Center, 2920 W. 183rd St. in Homewood.

Tennis has been ranked as the #1 best socially distanced sport, and according to the New York Times, tennis participation rose 22% in 2020.  The U.S. Tennis Association is offering the day’s events to introduce residents to the fun of tennis, no matter your age or ability.

The day opens with an introductory program for children ages 5 through 10. From 9 to 10 a.m., a parks staff member will lead them through interactive tennis activities, games and play.
