Commissioner Miller’s visit to Homewood restaurant marks Small Business Week

On Wednesday, May 5, Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller will be at Homewood’s Cilantro Cocina Mexicana, 18755 Dixie Highway, from 5 to 7 p.m. to mark Small Business Week and help give a spotlight to a local business.

Miller represents the 6th District on the Cook County Board that includes Homewood and Flossmoor.

“The restaurant industry has been particularly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and I wanted to highlight them during Small Business Week,” Miller said.

“On Thursday, April 29, the Cook County Department of Public Health issued revised COVID-19 Phase 4 reopening guidance, including increasing indoor restaurant capacity to 50% capacity or 100 individuals, whichever is less. As vaccination efforts are advancing and mitigations are being relaxed, what better way to support our local businesses than to come out and say thanks with our patronage.”

“We have been working diligently at all levels of government to combat this pandemic from the beginning and that includes assisting our small businesses.” Miller said.

“At the county level, the Cook County COVID-19 Recovery Small Business Assistance program helped our local businesses with technical assistance, small business grants and PPE assistance to name a few.

“Enjoying a meal at one of our great south suburban restaurants is a way everyone can help out on the road to recovery.”
