Students at Homewood-Flossmoor High School won three first place honors and other awards in the recent Illinois Women’s Press Association video contest.
First place winners will advance to national competition in May.
Brandon Eddy took first place for “COVID-19” in the television interview or talk show category; Tori Wright won first place for “Black in America” in the feature story category; Olivia Sowacke won first place for “Train Station” in the news category.
Other winners were Ben Turnquest, second place for “Cancer Center” in the feature story category; Jaya Russell, second place for “Balloon Business” in the news story category; Ari Sline, second place for “Cannabis” in the television interview or talk show category; Noah Clausing, third place for “The Band” in the television interview or talk show category.
The Illinois Women’s Press Association also awarded honorable mentions to Ari Sline, Austin Smailes, Eric Dedo and Joe Sullivan for projects they submitted.
