Homewood schools parade kicks off at 9:30 a.m. Friday

Homewood schools first day is Monday, Aug. 31, but before the students sign on for remote learning it’s time to celebrate the start of the school year.

Come out and join your neighbors as the vehicle parade goes through town on Friday, Aug. 28.

In an effort to keep everyone safe and following the socially distance guidelines, school supporters are hosting the parade through town. There are several streets designated as care viewing areas. These make it convenient for families to park their cars on these streets and watch the parade.

Starting at 9:30 a.m., a line of cars and special vehicles, including a fire engine and ambulance, will drive along a route that starts from the St. Joseph Parish parking lot in downtown Homewood and ends at Willow School.

The route for the Homewood back-to-school parade snakes through the village to pass school buildings.

The route is:
St. Joseph’s to Harwood to Maple, right on Gladville, right on Burr Oak, left on Highland, left on Olive (car viewing area), right on Aberdeen (car viewing area), right on 185th, left on May.

From May it’s left on 187th, right on Morgan, right on Coach, right on May, left on 187th, left on Center, right on 190th, right on Loomis.
