Homewood officials announced Thursday that new steps would be taken Friday to improve safety at the intersection of 183rd Street and Center Avenue.
Early Friday morning a crew was on site to remove several trees that obscured visibility for motorists on Center Avenue.
Also, Public Works staff installed flexible posts along the center line of 183rd Street to prevent left turns onto Center and to prevent motorists on Center from crossing 183rd.
The steps were prompted by a series of accidents in recent weeks, one fatal, and an outcry from members of the public who requested action be taken.
