Firehouses to get new emergency wake-up calls

With fall assessments now in the rearview mirror, Flossmoor School District 161 officials are unpacking some of the data gained from them and trying to figure out what it means as a unique school year progresses.

Officials discussed the results of the NWEA MAP and aimswebPlus assessments on Monday, Oct. 26, during a special meeting of D161 Board of Education, including data trends throughout the district, parent communication of student performance data, and the implementation of school improvement plans.

Both tests were administered remotely this fall.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
