Maureen Brabec takes the lead operatic role in Boston performance

David Lux chose his profession for a simple reason.

“It was something I loved. I wanted to help and serve the community,” he said. “When I first started, I didn’t know how much I made. I didn’t know the benefits. At that point in my life, I just wanted to be the police.”

Summer events

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
