Homewood to workshop strategic plan

The Homewood village board will meet as a committee of the whole for the first of two workshops for the village’s strategic plan on Thursday, Jan. 9, at 6 p.m. at the Marie Irwin Center.

The village’s last strategic plan was developed in 2010 with guidance from Northern Illinois University’s Center for Governmental Studies.

A strategic plan lays out a town’s goals, strategies and priorities for the medium and long term. It usually includes methods for developing and reaching economic, governmental, public safety, fiscal and other community aims.

The new plan will again be developed with the aid of Northern Illinois faculty, who will help facilitate the workshops, Village Manager Jim Marino said. Focus group sessions were held in November in preparation.

Both board members and department heads will participate. A second workshop will be held Jan. 23.
