Hart team playing to get to state basketball finals

The gym at James Hart School in Homewood will be rockin’ Wednesday, Dec. 11, when the eighth grade girls basketball team competes for the sectionals title against Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School in Harvey.

 
The public is invited to cheer on the team at the 6:30 p.m. game at Hart, 18220 Morgan Ave. If they win this game, the Hart team will enter round 1 of the state tournament in the Illinois Elementary School Association as representatives of the Class 8-4 Regional bracket. 
 
Hart defeated three teams to win the regionals title. Hart defeated Columbia School in Steger on Dec. 3, Parker Junior High in Flossmoor on Dec. 5, and Dolton District 149 on Dec. 6 to advance to the sectionals game.
Coach Ellen Noonan is taking her team into sectionals with a conference record of 18-0, and an overall record of 25-2.
 
Team members are eighth graders Janiya Arbo, Natalie Banks, Jordan Berry, Addison Collins, Erin Donaire, Grace Gibbs, Ajanya Greene-Curtis, Phoenix Honaker, Arlana King, Shakiah Toney and seventh graders Jemiyah McDonald and Roxy White.
