The Homewood Library Board will discuss steps to find a permanent director at its 7 p.m. meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
Parker’s 40-year career in library work spanned from high school until retirement. Her last full-time position was director of the Glenwood-Lynwood Public Library where she had worked for 16 years. She became a consultant several years ago.
Over the past three years, Parker has served as an interim director at the Morris Library and twice for the Flossmoor Public Library. She is working about 10 hours a week at the Homewood library.
Parker said the Homewood managers and staff are running the day-to-day operation “pretty well.” Her intention as interim is to “make sure the ship is on the right course” and she will take care of the administrative work.
