Miller calls for new county CPR/AED training awareness program

The pickleball craze has come to the H-F area. The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District will make two outdoor pickleball courts at Lions Club Park, 1041 Ridge Road in Homewood, and the Racquet & Fitness Club, 2920 W 183rd St., is hosting a pickleball primer at various times this fall. Pickleball, developed in 1965, combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
