Homewood students meeting expectations on standardized reading, math tests

Independence Day traditions will continue this year in Homewood and Flossmoor, beginning with the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District’s Starry Nights concert on July 3 and concluding with the district’s Family Fun Fest the afternoon of July 4.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
