Braun recognized for support of K of C tootsie roll fundraiser

Three recently elected members of the Flossmoor Village Board were sworn in and departing member James Wilder was honored during Monday night’s meeting.   Gyata Kimmons is sworn in as  Flossmoor trustee with his  family at his side. (Stephanie  Markham/H-F Chronicle) 

Gyata Kimmons is the only new face on the board, while longtime trustees James Mitros and Perry Hoag were both elected to their seventh four-year terms. Kimmons was the top vote-getter in the April 2 election. All will serve four-year terms.

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
