Renowned astrophysicist talks NASA solar probe with Homewood Historical Society

In a special ceremony the evening of April 8, teachers, administrators and current members of the James Hart School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society inducted 53 students as new members. The students were selected for their outstanding scholarship, character, service, leadership and citizenship. New members are eighth graders Grace Blonn, Amina Kendrick, Amira Lowery, Jada Marsh, Alexander Pease, Savannah Roberts, Karani Tabor, McKenzie Toler, Maria Tovar, Jeremiah Turn and Alexander Williams. New seventh grade members are:Peyton Bell, Louis Bloomberg, Elijah Burr, Cameron Cage, Alice Corbitt Seitz, Leo D’Astici, Ella Dedo, Erin Donaire, Alex . . .

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
