The Cancer Support Center hosts survivor conference Sept. 15

Nancy Gildart is joining the Homewood Public Library board of trustees after winning a two-year term as a write-in candidate. There were three positions open in the April 2 election, two six-year terms and one two-year term. Three residents filed for the six-year terms. Thomas Nowak was re-elected and Timothy A. Martin won election April 2.   • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
