New fire truck goes into service in Homewood

Joe DeCicco, a six-year Homewood-Flossmoor Park District employee, has switched departments, taking on the assistant manager’s position at the H-F Racquet & Fitness Club.  Joe DeCicco is now assistant  manager of the H-F Racquet  & Fitness Club. (Marilyn Thomas/  H-F Chronicle) 

DeCicco is working alongside manager Eileen Rohrer. His first major project was getting the fitness center painted – a tough challenge that meant working into the night on weekends when the facility closed.

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
