District 153 schools had students out of doors as the 2017-18 school year came to a close on June 7. Field Day activities, on June 6, helped reinforce teamwork while having fun.
At Willow School, teachers designed eight games: passing a hula hoop in a circle without breaking hands; setting up a team to block a soccer player from scoring; tossing bags to hit the one-, five- or 10-point circle and keeping score to learn which team had the most points.
There were fun activities too, like the wet sponge tag game and a volunteer DJ that kept the kids hopping.
In addition to games, a James Hart School walk-a-thon on June 5 raised more than $2,500 for Illinois Special Olympics.
