Marching against gun violence

It’s Ladies Night Out on Thursday in downtown Homewood when shopping will benefit the Homewood-Flossmoor High School Master Singers as they raise money for their trip to Italy in spring 2019. LouLouBelle, Art4Soul, Bottle & Bottega, UpsaDaisy, The Villager Gift Shop and Suzie’s Hallmark will donate 20 percent of the sales recorded between 5 and 8 p.m. Homewood Florist will be closed that evening, but will be donating for sales made during Thursday’s business hours. Master Singers is 65 members of the Viking Choir who will travel through northern Italy performing and learning . . .

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
