Eight persons have filed resumes and letters requesting they be considered for a vacant seat on the District 233 school board serving Homewood-Flossmoor High School. The deadline for filing applications was Friday, Sept. 7. Board member Tim Wenckus submitted a letter of resignation Aug. 24, effective immediately. Wenckus had eight months left on his term. Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
