8th annual Fund Run for Homewood Schools is Sept. 17

Runners, walkers and supporters will gather Sunday, Sept. 17, for the 8th annual Homewood Schools Fund Run. The race, hosted by Foundation 153, raises money for programs and school initiatives that are not paid for through the school budget.

Runners, walkers and supporters will gather Sunday, Sept. 17, for the 8th annual Homewood Schools Fund Run.
 

The race, hosted by Foundation 153, raises money for programs and school initiatives that are not paid for through the school budget. 
 
Organizers hope to meet their target of $15,000. In past years supporters have raised more than $10,000 with 500 runners, said foundation board member Gia Riney.
 
The event starts at the District 153 administrative office, 18205 Aberdeen in Homewood. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and the 5K race for runners and walkers will start at 9 a.m. The 153-yard dash for kids will start at 10 a.m.
 
Online registration is now open at bit.ly/2017fundrun. Discounted registration rates are available through Sept. 13: $70 family rate  for two adults, plus children age 17 and younger; $25 for adult in the 5K; $20 for youth in the 5K; and $10 for kids 12 and younger in the 153-Yard Dash. Registration fees after Sept. 13 are $30 for adults and $25 for youth. Family and kids fees remain the same.
 
Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers, plus the top three finishers in each age group. Runners who register by Sept. 7 are guaranteed a Fund Run T-shirt and are eligible to enter the event’s raffle drawing.
 
This year’s Homewood Fund Run sponsors are ETC Pediatric Dental Center, Lisa Grant Orthodontics, White Pines Ranch, Friends of the Homewood Public Library and Athletico.
