Five free summer concerts at Irwin Park

Homewood and Flossmoor residents have five opportunities to enjoy free outdoor concerts in Irwin Park bandshell, 18120 Highland Ave. in Homewood. The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District offers three Starry Nights programs starting at 7:30 p.m. Fortunate Sons will entertain June 22.  The tribute band to Creedence Clearwater Revival performs in costume with vintage gear and instruments. Ear Candy performs Monday, July 3. The band’s music is a mix of dance songs that will have listeners on their feet. The Cadillac Groove will appear July 27 entertaining with southern rock, blues, funk, rhythm . . .

Fall events

Saturday, Sept. 24

  • Homewood Fall Fest and Chili Cook-off, noon to 9 p.m. Chili tasting is open to the public for a donation from 3 to 5 p.m. Three live music performances, plus horse-drawn wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, crafts and other activities.

Saturday, Oct. 15

  • Dia de los Muertos in downtown Homewood. Details to follow.
