Work is expected to begin Monday, June 5, on the renovation of the ramp and stairs leading to the entrance of the Homewood Police Department, 17950 Dixie Highway.

The front entrance will be closed for several weeks during the project, according to village officials.

During that time, visitors will be directed to the Homewood Fire Department lobby, next door north of the police department.

A Police Department Records Division clerk will be stationed at the fire department most hours of the day. Visitors will be able to connect with the police department via a telephone in the fire department lobby if there is not a police representative at the service window.

Tickets can be paid over the phone with a credit card or by check via U.S. mail.  The department’s non-emergency phone number is 708-206-3420.

The bid for the project was awarded by Homewood trustees at the April 25 village board meeting. The low bid of $87,700 was submitted by Continental Construction Inc., coming in just under the $90,000 budgeted for the project.
