Homewood man shot at Naperville train station Tuesday

A 45-year-old Amtrak conductor from Homewood was shot by a passenger at the Naperville train station Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release from Naperville police.

Police said they received the report of a gunshot victim on the train platform at 4:45 p.m. The conductor, who had been shot once in the torso, was transported to Edward Hospital in Naperville and was conscious and alert.

Police arrested a suspect in the shooting, a man in his 70s from Wisconsin. When officers arrived, the man was being restrained by other passengers on the train. He was taken into custody by police, and a handgun was recovered at the scene.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
