Park district plans overnight trip for seniors to Branson, Mo.

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is adding a May 22 through 26 trip to Branson, Mo., for persons 55 and older as part of its spring programming.

“We’ve had several seniors requesting to do overnight trips,” said Stephanie Simpson, superintendent of recreation.

The park district is working with a tour company on the arrangements that include the transportation, accommodations, show admissions and daily continental breakfast and dinner.

The trip also includes a dinner cruise and several shows aboard the Showboat Branson Belle.

Fees vary by arrangement. Single rooms at $684 for H-F park district residents or $689 for non-residents; double room is $534 for residents and $439 for non-residents.  A triple room is $501 for residents and $515 for non-residents.

A $75 trip deposit is due Feb. 22 and the balance will be due March 22. Registration is being accepted at the Irwin Community Center, 18120 Highland Ave., Homewood.

The park district has day trips for seniors planned to Woodfield Mall on Jan. 12; the Chicago Auto Show on Feb. 17 and a Rialto Theatre with a tour, lunch and concert on Feb. 28.

The park district also added a Murder Mystery Party for seniors on April 24 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Irwin Center. The fee is $11.

A Cinco de Mayo Party for seniors will be May 5 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Irwin Center.  The fee is $11.
