Change to help all enjoy open gym time

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is changing its Sunday open gym basketball policies to give all sports enthusiasts court time.

Open gym will now be from 2 to 4 p.m. for kids third through eighth grades. The high school and adult players will have open gym from 4 to 6 p.m.  Open gym is at the H-F Sports Complex, 18211 Aberdeen St., Homewood.

Stephanie Simpson, superintendent of recreation, said the change should help the younger kids get time to play without interfering in play by older players.

The fee is $5 for residents and $12 for non-residents. School ID or a driver’s license is required to prove residency. Kids 12 and younger must be accompanied by a person 16 or older.

In addition, the park district is adding a High School Ultimate Frisbee Co-Red League April 11 through May 16 at Apollo Park. Get seven players or more together for your team and get ready for the challenge. The fee is $150 for residents; $188 for non-residents.

A High School Volleyball Co-Rec League is being organized for June 14 through July 19 at Apollo Park. Teams of six players or more are eligible. The fee is $150 for residents; $188 for non-residents.
