The village of Homewood will honor the latest inductees in the Homewood Hall of Fame at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23.

A noon luncheon at Ravisloe Country Club will be followed by the ceremony for the biennial induction, according to an article in the fall edition of the Village Key.

This year, for the first time, candidates who are not residents of Homewood were considered if their contributions to the community were significant, according to Homewood Heritage Committee Chairwoman Elaine Egdorf.

The 2016 inductees include:

  • Claude Gendreau, owner of Ravisloe Country Club and La Banque Hotel.
  • Robert W. and Jane M. Hindsley, retired educators and supporters of music and the arts in the schools and the community.
  • The late Richard D. Irwin, businessman and philanthropist whose generosity helped create Irwin Park.
  • Greg Meyer, retired executive director of the Homewood-Flossmoor Park District.
  • The Villari Family, owners of American Dance Studio and promoters of the arts.

Residents who wish to help honor the inductees and learn more about their achievements are invited to attend the luncheon and ceremony.

Reservations are due by Thursday, Oct. 13. The cost is $57 per person. Make checks payable to Village of Homewood-Hall of Fame and mail to 202 Chestnut Road, Homewood IL 60430. Include the name of each guest.

No tickets will be mailed. No reservations will be taken at the door.
