Golf and brews event canceled

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District has canceled its Fore & Pour event set for Saturday, Sept. 10.

Although staff worked hard to put everything in place, the decision was made Tuesday to cancel.

“We just didn’t get the response we needed,” Debbie Kopas, parks executive director, told commissioners at the Committee of the Whole session Tuesday.

The event was to be at Coyote Run where golfers would enjoy a round of golf with craft brew tastings at nine holes. The event also was meant for the non-golfer. After 5 p.m . . .

Summer events

Saturday, July 2

  • Roots + Fire Water grand opening, 11 a.m. at 1941 Ridge Road in Homewood.

Monday, July 4

  • Flossmoor Volunteer Fire Department kids parade, starting at 10 a.m. at Parker Junior High, ending in downtown Flossmoor.
  • Homewood 4th of July parade, staring at 10 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot, 17951 Dixie Highway, south to Ridge Road, then east to Izaak Walton Nature Preserve, where there will be a community picnic.
