Update from Homewood PTA: “Hold those tears for one more day brace kindergarden parents! Due to predicted rain Homewood PTA has rescheduled the Boo Hoo Breakfsst from Thursday, Aug. 25, to Friday, Aug. 26. We hope to meet all Kindergarden parents andguardians on the Willow School playground Friday at 8:15 am.”
The first day of school is sometimes harder on parents than on young students. Homewood PTA members know it well and want to help.
The PTA is inviting kindergarten parents and guardians to its fifth annual Boo Hoo Breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Willow School, 1804 Willow Road in Homewood.
Coffee and light food will be served, and tissues will be provided as parents say goodbye to their brave kindergartners for their first day of school.
This free kick off to the kindergarten year is held on the Willow playground, so younger siblings are welcome.
“Homewood PTA has been serving the children of our community since 1913,” said President Ann-Marie Webster. “We are excited to welcome the students back to PTA’s 103rd school year. This breakfast is the perfect event for new parents to District 153 to meet their fellow parents, arrange play dates and, of course, meet their PTA representatives. Veteran parents can renew friendships and pass on tips to the newcomers.”
PTA membership chair Jen Merrill will be on hand so parents can join PTA and get this year’s PTA calendar. Membership is $10 payable in cash or check. Payment is available online through PayPal for $11 at homewoodpta.org/membership/.
PTA memberships will also be available at the open houses of each District 153 school:
- James Hart Junior High, 18220 Morgan St., 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1.
- Churchill School, 1300 W. 190th St., Thursday, Sept. 22, time to be announced.
- Willow School, 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29.
The first PTA general meeting of the school year will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at James Hart School.
