Terri L Winfree, president of Prairie State College, received the 2016 Giving Back Award presented by INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.
She is being recognized for her “outstanding demonstration of social responsibility, a commitment to charitable services and involvement with students, faculty and staff to serve underrepresented populations,” according to Lenore Pearlstein, the magazine’s publisher.
The Giving Back Award honors presidents and chancellors of colleges and universities who go above and beyond their everyday leadership duties and “give back” to their campuses and communities.
Winfree will be featured in the April 2016 Leadership Support and Giving Back issue of the magazine. She is one of 26 recipients.
“Dr. Winfree supports an inclusive college community and is certainly a game changer in the field of higher education,” said Jennifer E. Stoner, PSC’s executive director of public relations and marketing, who nominated the president for this honor.
“Her background in restorative justice, her experience as a student at PSC as a returning adult and the variety of positions she has held during her tenure at PSC helps her connect with our students, staff and faculty,” Stoner added.
