WALKING GROUP — The walking group continues from 7 to 8 a.m. Friday at Millennium Park, 18600 Harwood Ave. because, as the H-F Park District says, “Walking alone can be boring, so come out and meet new people.” The walk will be about one mile each Friday morning during May. For anyone age 18 and up.

CANCER SUPPORT CENTER GALA — The annual fundraising gala will be held Friday at Olympia Fields Country Club. The theme will be “A Journey Around the World.” Purchase tickets here.

NATIVE PLANT SALE — Irons Oaks, 20000 Western Ave., will hold the sale from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday.

PARK PRIDE — The annual spring cleaning of parks in Homewood and Flossmoor will happen from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The H-F Park District coordinates volunteers who descend on parks and clean up litter, add mulch, plant flowers and more. All volunteers will receive a T-shirt and lunch. Anyone who wants to serve as a park captain should email [email protected] or call 708-957-0300 for more information.

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY — FCBD is an annual event on the first Saturday of May that will be celebrated at Zone Comics & Games, 18107 Dixie Highway in Homewood, and other comic shops, on May 4.

LEGO DISPLAY — WindyCityLUG (LEGO® User Group) will display custom Lego creations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the meeting room at Flossmoor Public Library, 1000 Sterling Ave.

BARB AND DAN’S ROAD RIDE — Weekly bike ride start at 8 a.m. Saturday from GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. There are two groups. One is a no-one-gets-dropped group that follows a 20-mile route. Another group is goes on a longer ride. Helmets required. Lights encouraged. Riders of all experience levels are welcome.

OFF-LEASH BIKE RIDE — A nine-mile ride every Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m. at GoodSpeed Cycle, 2125 W. 183rd St. in Homewood. The route includes Butterfield Creek bike path, past Rover’s Run and through Izaak Walton Preserve. No registration. Donuts upon return.

MELODY MART OPEN HOUSE — Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Melody Mart, 18062 Dixie Highway. The event will be an opportunity to meet music teachers, try instruments, hear instructors and students perform. There will be raffles and snacks, too.

LADIES NIGHT OUT WITH COMMISSIONER DONNA MILLER — Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller will host an “evening of camaraderie and flavors” from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Cilantro Mexican Cocina,18755 Dixie Highway.
