H-F High School’s fall musical ‘Chicago’ set for Nov. 9 and 10

The razzle-dazzle musical “Chicago” will be performed by Homewood-Flossmoor High School theater and music students at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9, and 10 in the Mall Auditorium.
 
This high school edition of the Broadway production is recommended for ages 13 and up.
 
The show is set in Chicago of the Roaring ‘20s. Roxie Hart, portrayed by junior Ava Jones, murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, portrayed by junior Jonathan Kriarakis, to take the rap. When he finds out he’s been duped, he turns on Roxie. 
 
Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and inmate Velma Kelly, portrayed by senior Jaira Stanley, vie for the spotlight and the headlines with help from the smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn, portrayed by senior Kevin Thompson. 
 
Fellow cast members are Charles Austin, Ariel Davis, Barbara Burns, Andrew Heligas, Jazz Jabulani, Nate Jones, Leanna Lewis, Laila Malak, Rowan Moxley, Mia Napue, Darrow Richmond, Ally Ryan, Greta Schmidt and Haley Sawyer. 
 
Chorus members are Kaila Chamblis, Adeera Harris, Brianne LeBlanc, Ally Ryan, Zora Shannon and Nia Valdez. Dance captain is Leanna Lewis.
 
Ensemble members are Anthony Aviles, Bill Colton, Brandon Eddy, Aaron Newman, Matt Ryan, Morgan Barber, Siara Carpenter, Miranda Esparza, Kai Nance, Noelle Oh, Audrey Simmons, Sherri Tarrer and Ellie Wojcikowski.
 
The production is directed by Jill Bonavia-Galligani, H-F English and Fine Arts teacher, with help from student directors Jaydon Brown, Natalie Elfner, Kieran Hanley, Isabella Jackson, Charlotte McManus and Kai Offett.
 
This musical will feature a score performed by student musicians directed by Sarah Whitlock, H-F Fine Arts teacher. 
 
Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens.
